"I welcome this resolution on the mobilisation of the European Union Solidarity Fund in favour of Italy. It should be noted that Italy experienced severe and wide-ranging damage as a result of the earthquakes and it is therefore necessary to provide the required assistance more swiftly and efficiently. The granting of support from the EU Solidarity Fund is thus a kind of expression of solidarity from the whole of Europe to the disaster-stricken people of Italy."@en1
