I believe he lacks the willingness to engage with and lobby for the fundamental rights enshrined in the Charter. However, this is the very area where we need progress, not setbacks. As part of his portfolio, he must also campaign for the rights of same-sex couples and women’s right of self-determination. Will he do so, however? I can scarcely conceal my disappointment that he has, nonetheless, secured majority support in the House.
