I remained undecided on this report. I am fully convinced that the protection of children on the internet should be ensured by means of legal protection. However, the digital world is more than just a major threat; it broadens the mind and makes informal learning possible. This report is one-sided, proposes subjecting private businesses to self-regulation, and underestimates the role of parents and schools. Protection of children and educating them in the safe use of the internet is first and foremost the duty of parents and schools. The report does not add any value to documents previously adopted, such as the Directive adopted in 2011 or the provisions of the Data Protection Regulation adopted the same year."@en1
