lpv:translated text	"The objective of the proposal in question is to lay down harmonised rules on the manufacture of agricultural and forestry vehicles. The ultimate aim of this is to ensure the proper functioning of the internal market while at the same time providing for a high level of environmental protection and road and occupational safety. Especially in relation to this last point, the proposal aims to simplify the existing type-approval legislation and thereby help to improve the competitiveness of the sector in question. As far as competition is concerned, the requirements for bodies or organisations to which Member States may delegate some assessment tasks are enhanced with a view to avoiding distortion of competition, particularly arising from different levels of stringency and performance applied by these third-party organisations when testing, inspecting or assessing vehicles. The proposal also seeks to fill any gaps in existing legislation, where there are no requirements aimed at harmonising road safety. In the light of what I have briefly explained, I voted in favour of the proposal."@en1
