"Mr President, Commissioners, recently two of the largest Greek companies announced their intention to relocate their registered offices, one to Luxembourg and the other to Switzerland. This is one step short of relocating their production units, and there is information that other Greek companies are to move their registered offices and production units. You know the prevailing situation in terms of wage cuts and labour relations in Greece. The companies themselves that are leaving say they are leaving because there is limited demand in Greece; they say investment plans are withdrawing from southern Europe because of the risk which is due mainly to European policies.
So I would like to ask you, Commissioners, how do you explain the departure of companies from Greece and the South while wages are shrinking? How do you explain the fact that the risk is due to European policies?"@en1
