"Why certainly, Ms Schroedter, the European Social Fund can be a resource to support programmes which develop green skills in the workforce. That is why it is very important to mention that the Commission’s April 2012 employment package did not handle the green economy marginally, it handled it very centrally, because it identified the green sector as one of the three key areas where job growth should be anticipated and investment in human capital should be focused.
This is, of course, an important point in the current programming phase of the forthcoming seven-year financial framework between the Commission and the Member States. We trust that green skills will be prioritised in the broader concept of skills development and investment in human capital. For that we would like to provide further orientation for the Member States by introducing the EU Skills Panorama in December. This will be launched on 7 December, and I hope its content and working method will give satisfaction."@en1
