". Through this resolution, the European Parliament intends to put pressure on Russia to comply fully with all World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules. This means the removal of all ‘protectionist barriers to trade’ with the European Union and includes the creation by Russia of an energy market, the liberalisation of public procurement, and the privatisation of the service sector. Parliament also advocates easier movement of capital between the two parties. What is the objective? Big finance in the EU wants to reduce the import costs of products that are, in many cases, crucial to the industry of many EU countries. In our opinion, any country has the right to exercise sovereignty over its natural resources and to impose the export duties it deems most appropriate to its own interests, regardless of the provisions of the WTO."@en1
