"I voted in favour of the report on financial market instruments because the decisions will mean that the new provisions will extend the authorities’ jurisdiction and ensure that clear rules of procedure apply to all trading activities. Certain financial activities and commodities had become exceptionally complex and lacking in transparency of late as a result of fundamental changes in the financial markets. The European Union, meanwhile, must keep pace with these changes in the interests of protecting its citizens and consumers."@en1
