".
The total number of complaints received by the European Ombudsman (2011) amounted to 2 510, which led the Ombudsman to open 396 inquiries, of which 58 % concerned the European Commission and 11 % the European Personnel Selection Service. The average length of inquiries was 10 months. In addition to these complaints, 1 284 people requested information and 18 274 obtained advice via the interactive guide on the Ombudsman’s website. In general, the intervention of the Ombudsman proved useful. The efforts made to facilitate the submission of complaints are worthy of note and the report rightly highlights them, We are, however, opposed to the widening and centralisation of powers in this area, which was enshrined in the Treaty of Lisbon."@en1
