".
The European Ombudsman did a remarkable job in 2011. During 2011, the Ombudsman helped more than 22 000 citizens, of whom 2 510 submitted complaints, 1 284 requested information and 18 274 obtained advice through the internet. The total number of complaints submitted to the European Ombudsman has gradually fallen, particularly the number of complaints that do not fall within the Ombudsman’s remit, undoubtedly due to better communication with European citizens. For these reasons, I voted in favour of this report."@en1
