". I voted for the resolution on draft Council decision on the signing and conclusion of the Agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the European Union on the coordination of energy-efficiency labelling for office equipment, given its improved applicability and functions. Office equipment is responsible for an increase in energy consumption. The EU-US Agreement aims to maximise energy savings and environmental benefits by stimulating the supply of and demand for energy-efficient products. A common set of energy specifications and a common logo will be used to establish consistent targets for manufacturers, thereby maximising the effect of their efforts on the supply of and demand for these products. The Agreement’s Common Specifications must be defined in such a way as to represent not more than 25 % of the most energy-efficient models at that time. Moreover, better labelling will be required so that consumers can easily identify energy-efficient products."@en1
