". I voted in favour of the report on the revision of the Agreement between the European Union and the United States on the coordination of energy-efficiency labelling programmes for office equipment. The new Energy Star Agreement sought to introduce measures to simplify the programme with a view to making its application more efficient. A labelling programme established by the US, Energy Star came into force in 2001 and was renewed in 2006. Given the high energy consumption of office equipment, it is important to encourage European manufacturers to improve the energy performance of such equipment. To that end, if a piece of equipment displays the Energy Star logo, it means that it has been designed in accordance with the programme’s technical specifications."@en1
