"Mr President, first of all I would like to say that I was very pleased with last night’s debate on this report. Indeed, it was adopted almost unanimously, which is to be welcomed.
Without a doubt, it is much better for Russia to be in the World Trade Organisation than outside it, and it offers us a great opportunity to make progress for the good of Europe and for the good of Russia, that is if Russia adheres to the rules. We will adhere to the rules and we will see if it does, too. I hope that that is the case.
I would add one more thing: I was also pleased to support the proposal concerning Yukos. We obviously need an independent investigation, and if Russia carries out that independent investigation, it will help us to have more confidence in it and we will be able to proceed from there."@en1
