"Mr President, I should like to express my support and my sincere admiration for the teenager who has become a symbol of the struggle for the right to education for Muslim women. Through her opinions and raw courage, the 14-year-old has become a bugbear for the Taliban. The fact that women’s right to education is causing concern in certain traditional societies is not too startling. What is absolutely amazing, however, is that such societies can go to such extremes as to attempt to use weapons to silence 14-year-old children calling for the right to an education. Nonetheless, I believe that this demonstrates a weakness of the Taliban and of those who try to suppress such rights by such drastic means."@en1
