".
Concluding a free trade agreement with Japan may be beneficial to the EU, its businesses and its workers. I am therefore very pleased that Parliament has given its accord to the launch of negotiations. In order for these to be successful it is, however, essential that the negotiators ensure that concessions are made on the Japanese side, notably with regard to lifting of non-tariff barriers and public procurement (particularly for postal services and transport). That is why Parliament is seeking to make it possible to suspend negotiations automatically if Japan does not make the necessary efforts."@en1
