".
I object to the current statutes of the European Central Bank. This in itself is reason enough to oppose the appointment of any new member to its Executive Board, unless that member is in favour of amending them. The fact that the Executive Board is proposing to appoint a man to replace its only female member is yet another reason to oppose it. Gender parity must be the rule even in European institutions. However, the problem with Yves Mersch is that, not only is he a man and unwilling to amend the statutes of the ECB, but he is also a militant neoliberal. I voted against this appointment."@en1
