While substantial progress has been made on a number of fronts in the past decade, progress on hunger and malnutrition have remained stubbornly slow. The Convention is fully in line with the EU’s ongoing efforts to contribute to reducing poverty and eradicating hunger globally in the framework of the Millennium Development Goals. The European Parliament is requested to give its consent on the proposal for a Council decision on the conclusion of the Convention, although there is no possibility to make amendments.
