". I voted in favour of this legislative resolution on the conservation and sustainable exploitation of fisheries resources under the common fisheries policy. With Regulation (EC) No 2371/2002, rules were introduced restricting access to fisheries resources in the 12-mile zones, which has helped to conserve resources. The derogations are due to expire on 31 December 2012, which is why the amendment to the above-mentioned Regulation is of extreme importance at a time when the common fisheries policy is under discussion."@en1
