Let us not mince our words, though: we need to say out loud that the single market will not be fully justified until it has become a means of protecting our jobs and industries. If we do not change our ways, we need to ask ourselves what is going to happen in the future. Dominant economies like China, Korea, Japan and Qatar are going to carry on buying up our industries and our jobs, and when Europe’s new bosses decide to relocate, there will be nothing we can do about it. That is why words are important in politics. I think we should agree that the time really has come to set up a proper protection policy for the internal market: European protectionism."@en1
