"I voted in favour of the Simpson report, which aims to transpose into EU law the changes in the international legislation, as decided by the International Maritime Organisation. Through my work as Vice-Chair of the Committee on Fisheries, I have been able to observe how important it is for crews trained in different countries but working on the same boat to have the necessary skills to carry out their duties in the same way. I am convinced that training plays a vital role in maritime safety and I welcome the adoption of this report."@en1
