"The EU is an area of solidarity which offers the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF). This support is vital to help the unemployed and victims of the relocations that occur in a globalised context. The number of undertakings which are relocating is constantly on the increase, due to their taking advantage of the cheaper labour costs which are available in various countries, particularly China and India, to the detriment of those countries which respect workers’ rights. The EGF is intended to help workers suffering the consequences of relocations, and it is vital to facilitate access to a new job. In the past the EGF has been used by other countries in the EU. This support must now be given to Germany, which has submitted an application for assistance for 2 284 redundancies, of which 2 103 are targeted for assistance, in printing machinery manufacturer Manroland AG and two of its subsidiaries as well as one supplier in Germany."@en1
