"I voted in favour of the report on the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF): application EGF/2010/015 FR/Peugeot. The EGF is designed to provide additional support to workers who have been made redundant as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns and to assist their efforts to reintegrate in the labour market. I strongly support this initiative, which allows us to help the 2 089 workers who were made redundant by Peugeot Citroën between 2009 and 2010 following the drastic reduction in the demand for new cars in the European Union. France is severely affected by restructuring; Arcelor Mittal and Continental must continue to receive assistance from the EGF. It is therefore absurd for some Member States to call into question the existence of the EGF in the medium term."@en1
