"the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) is an instrument to support the reintegration in the labour market of workers made redundant due to major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation. I have voted in favour of mobilisation of the fund in the present case because there are no problem areas and the application fulfils the eligibility criteria set up. Sweden has requested assistance for the 987 workers dismissed in the pharmaceutical enterprise AstraZeneca. The affected sites are located in four Swedish municipalities with the majority of the staff made redundant in Lund; the closure of the site is a heavy burden for Lund and affects the entire pharmaceutical sector in Sweden and the regional labour market."@en1
