"Implementation of the Single European Sky (SES) will bring competitive advantages and significant growth to the whole aviation industry, and to those sectors directly and indirectly involved, at a turbulent time in the history of Europe. If the Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research (SESAR) technology is deployed, it is estimated that there could be a cumulative impact on EU gross domestic product of EUR 419 billion, with 328 000 jobs being created and a reduction in CO
of some 50 million tonnes. Furthermore, air traffic is fast approaching its maximum capacity, which may threaten air operations and safety. It is time to reap the benefits of all of the investment made in the SES and SESAR in order to modernise European aviation and eliminate the defragmentation of Europe’s airspace, which is still divided by the borders of the European countries. Strong and effective European aviation, capable of competing internationally, will bring huge economic benefits to the Member States."@en1
