"I voted in favour of this report on the new proposal concerning the VAT own resource for the Union. This proposal is a considerable improvement on the current system. It is also likely to encourage the establishment of a genuine own resource for the EU budget that is both reliable and stable. I agree with the rapporteur that the VAT own resource should be part of a general reform of the own resources system aimed at reducing significantly the overall level of national contributions."@en1
