lpv:translated text	"Madam President, the debate has shown that a clear majority in this Chamber are in favour of a budget that reflects the European Union’s objectives. We in the European Parliament are all aware of the crisis and the need to save money, but in real terms the EU budget is, in fact, shrinking. Consequently, taking artificial measures to reduce the budget simply in order to win over voters in the Member States is not legitimate behaviour. Not only will it cause us to deviate from the objectives we are setting ourselves, but, most importantly, it will create budgetary difficulties. I would very much like the Council to consider the current state of the budget and what will happen if we do not keep our promises."@en1
