"On 22 March 2011, the Commission signed an association agreement with six Central American countries (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama). The negotiations took place in parallel with those of the trade agreement with Colombia and Peru, the characteristics of which were very similar. Both agreements consolidate specific concessions made to these countries by the EU within the framework of the Generalised System of Preferences Plus (GSP+) as well as totally or partially liberalising the trade in certain agricultural products between the contracting parties. The agreements include a safeguard clause to prevent serious disruptions in the respective markets, and this provision has to be transposed into European law."@en1
