In spite of the willingness on the part of Europe to contribute to the stability, progress and development of exporting countries, it is worth remembering that bananas are also a product produced in the EU. The bananas are of very high quality and come from outermost regions whose economies, due to their specific circumstances, deserve special attention and protection from European decision makers. The agreements established for this product must take these circumstances into account and provide for mechanisms which defend European interests.
