lpv:translated text	"Mr President, Commissioner, I would like to thank Sajjad Karim, for the excellent report and the work done. I consider it a success that the report does not focus only on evaluations of the bureaucratic burden, but also re-emphasises evaluation. In addition to the creation of new regulations based on impressions, completely irrelevant data and unrealistic evidence, one of the biggest sources of excessive regulation is the placing of further requirements above and beyond the directives by Member States themselves – so-called gold plating, as a previous speaker said. Significant reductions can be achieved in gold plating through evaluations. In my opinion, there is much sense in the idea of granting regulatory offsetting, which would require that, in advance of new legislation generating new bureaucratic and administrative costs, ways be found of offsetting these costs. I would like to end by repeating the view which I always express here when we are debating this topic – the view that the Commission finds the European Parliament lacking as a strong partner in the fight against bureaucracy. We should therefore start thinking about setting up a European Parliamentary committee on eliminating the bureaucratic burden."@en1
