In this regard, venture capital funds have a particularly important role in the economy, encouraging growth and job creation. In addition, they foster the establishment and expansion of innovative undertakings, thereby supporting innovation and competitiveness. They respond to the challenges currently facing most Member States. In this context, I would like to emphasise the importance of laying down a common framework of rules as soon as possible. This will allow for reducing the obstacles against the proper functioning of the internal market and eliminating the distortion of competition.
