There are profitability issues within the fishing fleet. Appropriate measures should be adopted. We need, therefore, to determine the true fishing effort and capacity in Europe, and the fishing communities should stay close to the levels that can produce the maximum sustainable yield. This would need to be applied on a regional level, and with the necessary funding from the European Fisheries Fund for the renewal and modernisation of the fleets as part of the restructuring through the implementation of the measures adopted in the common fisheries policy."@en1
