European citizens must be given clearer information about the fish they consume so that they can be guided towards products from sustainable and, if possible, local fisheries. We need to reduce our ecological debt by consuming less imported fish, and we need to improve the quality of fishery products on the market and encourage employment in Europe’s fishing sector. However, I deplore the ambiguity of the text as to whether or not it supports the system of transferable fishing concessions (TFCs). I therefore abstained, out of mistrust."@en¹
