"I am voting for this report, as I believe that the reformed common fisheries policy should strengthen producer organisations so that they can play a more significant role in the current management of fisheries under a more regionalised system. The creation of transnational producer organisations should be encouraged, with the aim of establishing fair conditions for all stakeholders in the fisheries sector. The future Common Market Organisation must also make a positive contribution towards the dynamic development of the EU aquaculture sector in order to better respond to the increase in demand for fish in the context of the reduction in wild fish stocks. The use of modern technology to improve market intelligence should be promoted within the framework of the future European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and maritime affairs policy. The proposed mechanism for intervening in the EU market is limited to a single storage system. However, any system that interferes with the free market should be treated with great care and should be applied on a cooperative basis, involving all of the producer organisations and allowing as much flexibility as possible, while protecting the interests of marine and island regions that are heavily dependent on fisheries, in particular the outermost regions."@en1
