"Mr Barroso, you stated in your speech that Europe needs a new direction, but then you started talking about the social market economy. Will all due respect, I believe that the socialist approach to the market economy is clearly a thing of the past, and it is partly due to this approach that Europe is in crisis today. Europe today needs a realistic market economy in which public sector expenditures are very clearly balanced with state revenues. Secondly, Europe clearly needs reforms, which means that enterprise and entrepreneurs should be given a clear opportunity to increase growth and create jobs, because neither we in the European Parliament nor you in the Commission create jobs. Jobs are created by entrepreneurs, who must be granted opportunities by lowering taxes and reducing bureaucracy. I cannot understand why companies’ reinvested profits could not now be exempted from income tax throughout Europe. And lastly – Europe needs e-government. This significantly reduces public sector expenditures and reduces the number of public sector employees, which means less bureaucracy and also less corruption."@en1
