lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, first of all, I would like to thank my colleagues for their very kind and complimentary words in relation to my report. That of course includes the Commissioner and the President-in-Office. I fully agree with the President-in-Office when he says that there should not be a deal at any price. In other words, you could say that no deal is better than a bad deal. But I believe – and I hope – that the report will be carried here tomorrow. I believe that will strengthen the Commissioner’s hand when she goes to negotiate again in October. We of course wish you well, Commissioner. We will survive, the Commissioners will survive and the Presidency will survive, but the big losers in all of this will be the stakeholders – not just the stakeholders of the European Union, but of Norway, Iceland and the Faroes. They have the most to lose. So we must ensure that we can arrive at an agreement in October. But I would like to make one final appeal, through this House, to all sides to get together and resolve this long-running dispute. A realistic solution is in the interests of all sides, but particularly the stakeholders, the fishing sector in the Member States. I am hopeful that good sense will prevail and I believe that perhaps this is the time that we should, in advance of the October meeting, ask the representatives of the fishing organisations in the coastal states to come together and perhaps give their views and map a way forward. I see that the chair of the Fisheries Committee is here as well as many of the shadows who are involved in this. I want to thank all of them for the role they played in the trialogue, together with the Commissioner’s officials and with the Presidency. I must say that, while I can be a critic at times of some of the institutions, I was more than impressed with the pragmatic attitude that they adopted at that meeting. Commissioner, we have strengthened your hand. It will now be a matter for you to implement, if necessary, but I hope that it will not be necessary and that there will be a positive conclusion in October."@en1
