"Mr President, Baroness Ashton, you have had the opportunity today to listen to many critical comments here about the behaviour of Russia in the international arena, such as in Syria and Georgia. You are right, Baroness Ashton – this was clear from your speech – that we, too, are to blame and that we have many problems relating to the internal situation in Russia. In addition to all the matters that you raised, to the new issues that you discussed, to the new laws that restrict human rights and freedoms, I would like to add another matter, which you did not mention, namely, the situation of Ms Osipova – I am sure you are aware of her situation – who has been convicted for alleged drug possession. There are also older unresolved matters, such as those of Khodorkovsky and Magnitsky, and there are the new cases which you discussed. I have some good news for you: today, we have completed negotiations on the resolution we are discussing. The negotiations finished four hours ago and, to be honest, there were no special discussions as all the political groups were in agreement. This means that you also have a strong mandate from the European Parliament to request respect for law, freedom and democracy in Russia. I sincerely wish you every success in this and please remember that you have the support of the whole European Parliament and all its political groups."@en1
