"The Internal Market Information System (IMI) has been used since 2008 as a free service provided to the Member States, with the aim of improving the exchange of information within the internal market. It is a fast and secure means of cross-border information exchange and administrative cooperation. Currently used for exchanging information on the recognition of professional qualifications and services within the internal market, the IMI still operates without a single legal instrument, which is seen as a major obstacle to its further expansion. As such, this report, for which I voted, supports creating a single legal framework applicable to the IMI, along with a set of rules to ensure it functions properly, thereby enabling its future expansion to other sectors of EU law."@en1
