lpv:translated text	"Preserving our oceans is one of the central objectives of Europe’s environmental policy. As a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, I am delighted by the support Parliament has shown for this text. In fact, by 2020, there is a need to cut sulphur emissions from shipping to a seventh of current levels in order to reduce pollution. Marine fuel residues contain, on average, 2 700 times more sulphur than road vehicle fuels. This reduction is also very important from the point of view of public health. This reduction should improve air quality and reduce the number of premature deaths related to air pollution by some 50 000 cases."@en1
