"In order to lighten the administrative burden on businesses, this Tuesday, the European Parliament adopted a European standardisation process. This will mean that businesses can obtain standard solutions to technical problems more quickly. They will also be able to reduce their production costs, promote good practices and stimulate competitiveness and growth. I voted in favour of this report on European standardisation. This will allow us to revise and merge several existing directives. This report is part of the EU 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. During the negotiations, Parliament emphasised the importance of involving small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as representatives of environmental, consumer and civil society organisations in developing these standards. By acting in consultation with these various parties, we will be able to ensure that the opinion of end users is taken into account."@en1
