lpv:translated text	"Mr President, for me as a Dane, it is safe to say that although energy efficiency has maybe faded a bit from a public perspective during the current economic situation, the dossier was by far one of the most important tasks for the Danish Presidency and – let us be honest – it was not a walkover for anybody to get a first agreement. There were quite a few hurdles to overcome, but we succeeded. I think the Danish Presidency did very well. It managed to balance ambitions between goals and flexibility and recognised when to close a deal in the Council, which was absolutely crucial for further negotiations. Having been in close contact with Minister Lidegaard during and after the negotiations, I know that the Presidency was extremely grateful to this House: to the Committee on Industry, Trade and Energy as a whole and to the rapporteur and the shadows in particular. There were lots of obstacles along the way. Without the impressive strong political will of the European Parliament to get a result, the Danish Presidency would have been sent home with empty hands. Of course, ambitions were drastically cut, but we have a sound compromise where ambitions and the need for flexibility meet. This is, in particular, thanks to very efficient and professional codecision work between all the European institutions, which is something to learn from in the future. Congratulations to Europe, congratulations to us. Mr Turmes, you did a fine job."@en1
