"At present, access to a bank account has become for every European citizen a prerequisite for participating fully in economic and social life, and the use of cash is rapidly declining. Nowadays, not having access to a basic bank account makes everyday life difficult and more expensive. This means that paying utility bills or receiving income may become problematic. Not to mention
commerce, which therefore becomes inaccessible. Based on what has been stated above, I strongly support the right of every European citizen, regardless of their financial situation, to open and use a basic payment account, including in a Member State other than the one where they permanently reside."@en1
