"An Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement should protect intellectual property, save jobs, encourage research and at the same time develop and strengthen European exports. I would like to point out that intellectual property rights protection and the fight against counterfeiting are of fundamental social importance, in my opinion, and it is therefore necessary to provide the appropriate legal measures. At the same time, however, I would like to say that I unequivocally reject a restriction on Internet freedom and free access to information, except for the transmission of child pornography, which must be severely punished. I take a critical view of the long regime of secrecy shrouding the actual process of creating the agreement, and of the open questions that remained unresolved at the time of voting. For example, there is the basic option of customs intervention in small quantities of goods of a non-commercial nature transported in passengers’ personal baggage. The relatively ambiguous text of the agreement is another critical point. The interventions in question might occur, of course, on the territory of other signatory states based on the agreement. I consider this to be in conflict with civil rights, according to which such interventions should be possible only on the basis of a court order. As a result of these factors, I did not support the agreement in the sitting."@en1
