I voted in favour of this agreement between the EU and Russia on the export duties for raw materials introduced or increased by the Russian Federation. The EU has a major import interest in these raw materials for which there is a risk of tension in global supplies. As the EU is Russia’s biggest trading partner and investor, it is essential to reach an agreement on further trade aspects, by applying the principle of reciprocity and the commitments made by Russia during WTO accession. It is important to ensure that a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement is guaranteed in the longer term, establishing strict and binding bilateral trade principles."@en1
