"As a result of its accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Russia is exempt until 2018 from the obligation to apply all the measures set out in the Agreement on Trade-Related Investment Measures (TRIMs). These exemptions could impact negatively on the competitiveness of European manufacturers of parts and components of motor vehicles in favour of those based in Russia. In this context, the agreement calls for mechanisms that will ensure reduced tariffs to European exporters. These mechanisms will be triggered in the event of any fall in European exports. I voted for this report, which was adopted in plenary by a large majority and I welcome this."@en1
