"Mr President, after this vote I would just like to refer once again to what has already been said in the plenary by my colleague, Commissioner De Gucht. He underlined the importance of ACTA for creativity, innovation and economic potential in the European Union and how important this Agreement is for the external competitiveness of the EU’s economy. I would like to inform honourable Members that the Commission will maintain its request to the Court of Justice of the European Union for an opinion on whether ACTA is compatible with the treaties and, in particular, with the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. After that we will study the Court’s opinion closely and the Commission will discuss this matter with the other signatories of ACTA and with the European Parliament. It will then consider what further steps to take."@en1
