"Mr President, I am also unable to vote in favour of the current text of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA). However, I would like to point out that this does not put an end to the debate on the future of intellectual property in the digital world. There is a problem with piracy and while file sharing may be very advantageous for users, it is not beneficial to the same extent for the originators. The new business models which are constantly being referred to, such as iTunes, Spotify and Simfy, are, of course, based on copyright regulations, so there is no argument against them. In answer to the point that public libraries are wonderful and that we naturally need access to knowledge and culture, I would say that this is right. However, public libraries are financed using taxes and the authors are compensated. We need to find new models which will allow easy access to culture and knowledge in the digital world. However, there must be fair solutions for the originators, if we do not want to put our cultural diversity at risk."@en1
