"The economic crisis that the European Union is experiencing, accompanied by low levels of growth and high levels of unemployment, has increased the economic, social and investment disparities between the Member States. are the result of a high-performance economy. Social protection can only ever be the consequence of work and responsibility. We must make investment the central component of our European policies. We need an economic government that implements proactive policies to produce promising investments. We must complete the single market, the key driver of economic growth, by fully implementing the legislation on energy and services. We need the courage to restructure certain sectors. We must press for a more flexible mobilisation of the Structural Funds, promote the entrepreneurial spirit and provide access to funding. We have to resist the siren call of inward-looking economic protectionism which can only result in an illusory well-being. Whilst we need competitiveness, we also need solidarity."@en1
