"I voted for the resolution on increasing the attractiveness for investments. The EU needs to respond appropriately to the challenges of stabilising the international economy in order to fully exploit the global opportunities available. The EU has to address its weaknesses and enhance the advantages of all countries and regions to attract local and international investments which will contribute to its balanced growth and cohesion. The EU is the world’s largest trading bloc and external trade has so far played a dynamic role in boosting growth, especially in the services sector. At the same time, attracting investment needs to be distinguished at two levels: making Europe an attractive destination for foreign investors and making entrepreneurship attractive for local entrepreneurs. Reforms, both at national and European level, are necessary to improve the functioning of the single market and fully exploit the Structural Funds."@en1
