"I voted in favour of this report on reviewing the strategy for investment in Europe and supplementing it with new instruments. I believe that it is essential to exploit the EU’s advantage as the world’s largest single common market (including its high standard of living, high labour productivity, legal certainty and research and innovation capacity). I agree that as the level of unemployment increases and forecasts for Europe’s recovery remain pessimistic, new measures need to be taken to retain current investors and attract new ones. In order to tackle the challenges of the recession and slow economic growth, there is a need for more efficient tools and methods, new funding mechanisms and investment schemes. I agree that increasing investment in Europe, creating jobs within the EU and maintaining the EU’s international competitiveness must be a priority. It is important to achieve smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in the EU by reducing regional disparities."@en1
