"I voted for this report because water is vital for life, and its efficient management is particularly important for our health, the economy and the society in which we live. Improving access to water is a fundamental aspect of enhancing people’s quality of life. This is why I think that resources need to be protected as securely as possible against the risks which they are exposed to, such as population growth, urbanisation, pollution, over consumption or climate change. At the same time, I would like to highlight the need for specific actions and a comprehensive approach to overcome the current challenges and achieve a more effective policy in this area. I therefore believe that greater consideration should be given to the issue of water and it should be incorporated into every policy area. The efficient use of water plays a key role in the Europe 2020 strategy. In this respect, reducing consumption should be a priority for all EU citizens."@en1
